Privacy Policy
Effective date: 3 August 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Emdad — Consultation & Humanitarian Services ("Emdad", "we", "us") collects, uses and protects your personal information when you use our website and when you subscribe to receive Emergency Alerts and humanitarian updates. We are committed to handling your data lawfully and transparently in accordance with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.
Who we are
The data controller is Emdad — Consultation & Humanitarian Services, 12 Regent Close, Birmingham, B5 7PL, United Kingdom (Company No. 17114742). For any privacy question, contact us at info@emdad.uk.
What information we collect
When you use the Emergency Alerts subscription form, we collect:
- your email address;
- your consent to receive Emergency Alert emails, and the date and time it was given;
- limited technical information associated with the sign-up (such as the page or source of the subscription, and information our email provider records for security and deliverability, which may include an IP address).
We do not ask for, or require, any special-category (sensitive) personal data to subscribe.
Why we use it and our legal basis
We use your email address solely to send you Emergency Alerts and related humanitarian updates. Our legal basis for this is your consent (UK GDPR Article 6(1)(a)), which you provide by ticking the consent box and submitting the form. You can withdraw your consent at any time (see "Your rights" and "How to unsubscribe" below).
Who we share it with
We use MailerLite (operated by UAB "MailerLite", Lithuania) as our email service provider to store subscriber information and to deliver our emails. MailerLite processes your data on our behalf as a data processor, under a data processing agreement and appropriate safeguards. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with third parties for their own marketing.
International transfers
Our email provider may process data outside the United Kingdom, including within the European Economic Area and, in some cases, other countries. Where data is transferred outside the UK/EEA, it is protected by appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses.
How long we keep it
We keep your subscription details for as long as you remain subscribed. If you unsubscribe or ask us to delete your data, we remove your details from our active mailing list promptly, retaining only what we are required to keep to evidence consent or to comply with legal obligations.
Enquiry form
When you send an enquiry through the form on our website, we collect your name, organisation, work email, and any optional details you choose to give (phone number, country, indicative budget and message), together with the date and time and limited technical information such as your IP address for security and spam prevention.
We use these details only to reply to your enquiry and, where relevant, to prepare a proposal or share our due diligence documents. Our legal basis is our legitimate interest in responding to requests you make to us (UK GDPR Article 6(1)(f)). Enquiries are stored on Cloudflare (our website host) and delivered to our inbox by Resend, our email delivery provider, both acting as our data processors. We keep enquiries for up to 24 months unless they lead to a working relationship, and you can ask us to delete yours at any time by emailing info@emdad.uk.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to: access the personal data we hold about you; ask us to correct inaccurate data; ask us to erase your data; restrict or object to our processing; request portability of your data; and withdraw consent at any time. To exercise any of these rights, email info@emdad.uk. You also have the right to complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.
How to unsubscribe
Every Emergency Alert email includes an unsubscribe link. Clicking it removes you from the list immediately. You can also email info@emdad.uk and we will unsubscribe you.
Cookies and third-party content
Our website aims to use minimal cookies. Some pages load content from reputable third parties to power live humanitarian information — for example ReliefWeb (UN OCHA) for emergency data, a news index for recent coverage, and OpenStreetMap/Wikimedia for maps. These providers may receive basic technical request information when their content loads. We do not use this content to build advertising profiles of you.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The "Effective date" at the top shows when it was last revised. Material changes affecting how we use your data will be reflected here.
